Tolleson, Arizona

Tolleson, Arizona is a small city in Maricopa County with just over 6,500 residents. Surrounded by several neighborhood villages, Tolleson is only a twenty minute drive away from metropolitan Phoenix. To its northeast lies the city of Glendale, and about ten miles southwest is the Estrella Mountain regional park, a vast mountainous region with undisturbed desert wildlife and wetlands. The city has embarked upon several community enhancement projects in the past decade, including public art programs, a community garden, and an outdoor community shopping center. Tolleson is committed to keeping its community connected and informed through various virtual platforms and in-person community events.

The Gallery 37 program has been a great success in Tolleson. This public art program pairs professional artists with local students. Together, they created a sculptural representation of Tolleson’s past, present, and vision for the future that are available for viewing in the Paseo de Arte, or “Path of Art,” in the town’s center. Tolleson’s local outdoor shopping mall, Paseo de Luces, is also located here. Residents are encouraged to shop locally to support the many Tolleson small businesses and view Gallery 37’s art installations. Major festivals hosted in Tolleson include the Latin Jazz and Mariachi Festival, Movies in the Park, Luces de Navidad, and Tardeada Latina.
